Used To

It’s hard, sometimes,
to remember
you’re not the girl
I used to know.
No longer filled with laughter,
your smile’s not for free.
There won’t be
a happily ever after,
at least not with me.
You sold your soul
for a friendship,
we both know will never be.
Those girls have made you catty,
and, at times,
downright mean.
When I look at you now
I see no trace
of the girl you used to be.
