Hidden

They say I’m good.
They say I’m kind.
But they don’t see
the darkness I’ve kept hidden inside.
I try to bury
the parts that are cruel,
still they leak out
finding more fuel.
I pull the locks tighter
into my firm embrace
making sure my terror
stays off of my face.
There’s so much about me
that all of them don’t know
but if they knew my darkness
would they stay or would they go?
I’m afraid of the answer
so I’ll keep hiding
the darkness within.

Prompt: What’s Hidden Inside
