Hunger

Inside herself
she felt a deep hunger.
She yearned to taste life,
to grab hold
until she’d had her fill.
She longed to touch,
explore,
discover.
Find all the flavors of life.
The soft sweetness of joy.
The vivacious spice of excitement,
The cruel bitterness of sorrow.
As she consumed
all that lay around her,
she failed to notice
how her appetite grew
to new proportions.
She devoured all there was to offer
and was left with a hunger.
A hunger that could never be filled.

Prompt: Hunger
