He grabbed for her, but he was too late. He could feel it as his hand managed to barely skim hers as she slipped away. The waves rose up to meet her. They claimed her as their own. He watched helplessly over the edge as she sank deeper into the water’s depths. She looked calm, even as the water swallowed her whole. Her descent looked like a well-choreographed dance, graceful and fluid. Her dress and hair billowed around her. She closed her eyes, accepting as the sea enfolded her in its embrace.
